Villa 2 Spurs 3. Spurs Up To 5th

With just 12 matches left this season, Tottenham Hotspur now occupy a Champions League place after Heung Min Son's injury time winner saw off plucky Aston Villa.

Spurs played some excellent football on a brisk afternoon in Birmingham but were guilty of a multitude of missed chances having taken a 2-1 lead before half time.

Tottenham had a number of stand out performers. Steven Bergwijn showed sublime skills and vision throughout the contest and an honourable mention also for Ben Davies, on his return from injury, who solidified the left hand side of the defence.

Dele Alli typified Tottenham's day. His movement off the ball was outstanding.

World class even.

His finishing was not outstanding.

Schoolboy class even.

However Villa arguably had the best two players on the pitch today, keeper Pepe Reina and the effervescent Jack Grealish.

But Spurs leave Villa Park and the approaching Storm Denis with 3 points, 1 point off 4th place Chelsea, and Jose Mourinho reaffirms his managerial credibility by now amassing the second best Premier League since taking over as Spurs manager last November.

Incidentally Mourinho has now won 3 away matches as Spurs manager. In his time as Manchester United manager, since taking over from Mourinho last year, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was won 2.
