Tottenham Players Face Uncertain Future After Antwerp Debacle

Furious Jose

Jose Mourinho has just pressed the Jose Mourinho nuclear button.

Following our inept performance in Belgium, Mourinho made it perfectly clear that some players in the starting XI v Antwerp have no future at Tottenham.

Here I outline my own opinion on these players.

Starting XI v Antwerp

Lloris
Exempt from criticism. The best leader at the club and world class goalkeeper.

Aurier
No long term future. Will be sold when replacement right back is bought

Davies
A stalwart at times over the past 6 years. Can do a job at left back, but not at centre back

Sanchez
No long term future. Will be sold in January. Talented player but prone to error.

Reguilon
Exempt from criticism

Lo Celso
Exempt from criticism but he is not Christian Eriksen

Winks
No long term future. Will be sold in January/next summer

Bergwijn
Has struggled for confidence and consistency since arriving last January. Would not be surprised if he is sold in January/next summer

Vinicius
Only just bought. Exempt from criticism.

Bale
The Welsh attacker is a major concern. He has been without regular first team football for a few years, is not getting any younger and looks a shadow of his former Spurs self

Dele
Confidence is gone. Clearly Mourinho does not rate him. Will be sold in January/next summer

Uncertain Futures
So that's a potential six players from last night's team who face uncertain futures under Jose Mourinho.

Favoured Players
It's clear that Mourinho has got his favoured group of players (every manager does) but managing the emotions and attitudes of the unsettled players is challenging in every squad.

It is also something Jose Mourinho has struggled with in all previous jobs.
