Ray Clemence - A Tribute to the Tottenham and Liverpool legend

Image
Move to Spurs Ray Clemence was the final piece of Keith Burkinshaw's jigsaw.  Signed from Liverpool in the summer of 1981, Ray's leadership and tactical nous quickly became apparent as Spurs became one of the best cup teams of the 80s.  Leader Ray was a penalty box general and a defensive marshall. He was famed for shouting orders and advice to his defenders for 90 minutes. He plucked every cross with ease and assurance and was one of the best shot stoppers of his or indeed any generation.  International Caps Ray won 61 caps for England but it should have been in excess of 100. Ray played his last international at the age of 33, deciding to retire from international football to manage a long standing knee injury. Yet Ray continued to excel at Tottenham for a further 5 years.  Since retirement Ray was a regular attendee at Tottenham matches and his legend and greatness will live on for all Liverpool and Tottenham fans for many a year to come.

Jose Mourinho's men have had impressive wins over Manchester United and Southampton and solid wins over Brighton and West Brom. Of course, Tottenham could be in clear 1st place were it not for frustrating home draws against West Ham and Newcastle where victory was squandered to last minute equalisers. Star Players   Tanguy Ndombele has been a revelation this season rapidly becoming the fulcrum of the midfield. Harry Kane and Heung Min Son are the best strike partnership in the Premier League (Kane is world class) while Sergei Reguillon has emerged as a class act at left back. Different Fixtures   Now for the bad news. Tottenham face a challenging series of fixtures in the month of November. Rarely have we had such a challenging series of fixtures in recent years.   If Jose Mouri
