Raiders End of Season Thoughts: Classless Chiefs, Ineffective coaching and the curse of Las Vegas
Classless Chiefs
1. The Chiefs should have received a taunting penalty for their ring rosey play. It disrespected the Raiders and made a mockery of the contest. The Raiders are an embarrassment to the NFL without being further mocked by their opponent.
Coaching Indecision
2. The coaching staff had a horrible season. Quite frankly, Josh McDaniels himself will be lucky to return next season. Mark Davis won't fire him but McDaniels is under pressure to deliver a winning season in 2023.
Uncompetitive Raiders
3. The Raiders are so far behind the Chiefs that we may never catch them as long as Mahomes is playing. We need our own generational QB from the draft. Regardless of what veteran(s) we bring in, if the Raiders feel Anthony Richardson or Will Leves are that type of talent, they need to draft a QB in the 1st round (Young and Stroud will be off the board in the top 5 picks)
Derek Carr
4. I wish Derek Carr the very best for the future. In years to come he'll realise he struggled to execute in the McDaniels offense Carr was a great Raider QB, who sadly was never the same player after his 2016 leg break. But I wish him every success going forward
Las Vegas
5. Mark Davis is a terrible football owner. He increased the value of the Raiders many times by moving from Oakland but he moved the team to a soulless husk of a city which doubles up as a natural magnet for opposition fans.
The sea of red in the final two home games was a hideous sight. So dispiriting for the players and Raiders fans.
We're stuck in Las Vegas but I fear we will never make it work as a home venue. We only have another 27 years remaining on our Las Vegas lease before we can move elsewhere.
If Im alive, l'll be 77 years of age before the Raiders could potentially move back to our spiritual home of Oakland.
