Raiders Impress in Victory over 49ers

Aidan O'Connell

The Raiders looked sharp, energised and committed in the 34-7 preseason victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

While individual displays during preseason can be somewhat deceptive due to varying levels of talent showcased, the standout showings of Rookie QB Aidan O'Connell, TE Cole Fotheringham, and WR Tre Tucker should not go unnoticed. Of these, O'Connell was particularly impressive, showing poise, control, and command as he finished 15/18, 141 yards and a touchdown pass to Keenan Cole.

Switching gears to the defensive side, linebackers Curtis Bolton and rookie Amari Burney showcased a level of skill and form akin to that seen during the mid-season, a crucial development given the existing concerns in that area.

However, it's important to keep in mind that this was a preseason encounter, and the most significant takeaway lies in the team's attitude.

The Raiders' conviction on both the field and sideline bodes well for the future, setting an encouraging tone,  albeit very early in the season
