Defense dominates as the Raiders defeat the Packers

Powerful Defense

Defense wins championships and very often defense wins games.

And so it was the case for the Las Vegas Raiders where Patrick Graham's defense was key to victory over the Green Bay Packers - in doing so the Raiders snapped a 37 year losing streak to Green Bay.

Offensive Struggles

The Raiders' offense was disjointed all evening principally because of a subpar offensive line. Jimmy Garrapolo was under constant pressure but thankfully game managed sufficiently to steer the Raiders to 17 points. Josh Jacobs looked back to his best while Jakobi Meyers and Davante got consistently open and combined for 120 yards and a TD.

There was something of a coming out party for Michael Mayer who had a career high 2 catches for 39 yards and was open for a few more grabs which Garrapolo failed to convert. Garrapolo struggled throughout but admittedly was sacked or hit on a total of 10 occasions.

Love Pressured All Game

But the defense was the star of the show. QB Jordan Love was under constant pressure. Love threw three critical picks - two to the ever impressive Robert Spillane and one to Amik Robertson in the end zone to seal the Raiders' much needed win - Robertson made the most of his starting opportunity.

Opportunity Knocks

So the Raiders are back at just under .500 with a relativity easy slate of upcoming games.

Josh McDaniels and his coaching staff will be looking with greater optimism over the next few weeks in what will undoubtedly be the pivotal part of the Raiders' season.
