Struggling Grades for Las Vegas Raiders 2023 Draft Picks
• Round 1, Pick 7
Tyree Wilson, EDGE | Texas Tech
2/10
Wilson has been thrust in as starter because of Chandler Jones' nonsense and the kid is struggling. He looks well off the pace so far. In fact the words "pace" and "Tyree Wilson" are a contradiction in terms. A looming bust.
• Round 2, Pick 35 (From IND)
Michael Mayer, TE | Notre Dame
6/10
Mayer has had a solid couple of weeks, after a slow start. He's gradually finding his feet- but he's no Darren Waller nor ever will be.
• Round 3, Pick 70
Byron Young, DL | Alabama
2/10
The Alabama product has been nonexistent so far in his NFL career. Given he's a third round draft pick, he should be more productive.
• Round 3, Pick 100 (From KC via NYG)*
Tre Tucker, WR, Cincinnati
6/10
Tucker has speed and a big upside. He needs to get more of the ball.
• Round 4, Pick 104 (From HOU)
Jakorian Bennett, CB, Maryland
4/10
A roller coaster start for the rookie who has showed flashes of potential with unfortunate naivety. But he's been injured in recent weeks.
• Round 4, Pick 135 (From NE)
Aidan O’Connell, QB, Purdue
6/10.
AOC was a preseason star. In his one start to date he was inconsistent, has potential but overall he's well short of starter ability.
• Round 5, Pick 170 (From NYJ)
Christopher Smith II, S, Georgia
N/A
Not played.
• Round 6, Pick 203 (From HOU)
Amari Burney, LB, Florida
N/A
Not played.
• Round 7, Pick 231 (From NE)
Nesta Jade Silvera, DT, Arizona State
N/A
Not played.
Overall

Grade: D
The trajectories of Mayer, Tucker, and possibly O'Connell, are rising but the struggles of Tyree Wilson stands out so far in the draft class.
Half way through the 2023 rookie season, the rookies have had a pitiful return, not helped by a lacklustre head coach, and a GM who on this evidence (and on the basis of the 2022 draft) is woefully out of his depth.
