Raiders - What Next?

Another Losing Season

After losing 23-20 to the Colts, the Raiders have been eliminated from the playoffs.

The loss to the Colts means it's our 16th losing season in the last 21 years.

A pitiful state of affairs

Irrelevant Week 18 Game

Jarret Stidham and the Denver Broncos will likely do a number on us next week. They're long overdue a victory over us, but it doesn't matter.

There is absolutely no incentive to win against the Broncos

Zero. Zilch. Nada

Draft position is far more important than a meaningless end of season game

A loss could see us moving from 11 to 9 and inside the top 10. That could make all the difference if we want to trade up for a QB/wait for a QB or draft a stud DT like Jer'Zhan Newton.

Also if we win, we'll have a 2nd placed schedule for 2024 and road trips to the Rams and Bills/Dolphins.
The only way we will ever break this cycle of ineptitude is with an elite head coach, QB and GM.

Copy the Los Angeles Rams

in recent years, the Rams have had very few high end draft picks and very little cap space.

But they have a great GM, coach and QB. Against all odds, the Rams are back in the playoffs. The Raiders should strive for that as their benchmark and securing the best possible GM and coach for the Raiders is the paramount concern for Mark Davis and his advisors.

January 2024 will now become a seminal month in Raider history.

Extensive Coaching Search

Mark Davis owes it to himself, the fans and organisation to conduct an extensive GM and coach search. I still think Antonio Pierce is the favourite but if another candidate sells the better vision and plan then that should undoubtedly be the guy.

My very unscientific odds for next Raiders coach:

• Antonio Pierce 3/1

• Jim Harbaugh 5/1

• Ben Johnson 7/1

• Frank Smith 8/1

• Bobby Slowik 8/1

• Dan Quinn 9/1

• Jim Schwartz 9/1

• Brian Flores 12/1

• Brian Johnson 12/1

• Mike Macdonald 12/1

• Raheem Morris 12/1

• Rich Bisaccia 12/1

• Eric Bieniemy 14/1

• Jerod Mayo 14/1

• Lincoln Riley 14/1
